Repairs & Upgrades

MD Components Ltd is able to carry out a wide range of service and repair work on your PC. Hopefully, you purchased your machine from us, but even if you didn't we are happy to work on it for you.

We believe that if we look after you then you will consider us for your future PC purchases and upgrades.

You will find below our guide pricelist for service and repair work. As we are sure you will appreciate it isn't always possible to quote an exact price for the required work, but call us or bring in your item for a comprehensive quote.

You can rest assured that we will carry out the required work as cost effectively and economically as possible.

If you would like a more accurate estimate please speak with one of our engineers and ask him to ring you once we have examined your PC before carrying out the work.

Please note: if you decide not to have the work done we'll understand, it simply may not make economic sense. We do, however, make a small administration charge of £10.00 + VAT to cover the costs of the investigation work done on your PC.

If you decide to buy a new machine we'll even see if we can help you with the price of a replacement PC and for starters we will waive our administration charge.

Virus and Spyware Removal

...from £39.00 + VAT

Viruses and Spyware can be notoriously difficult to remove and can often be very time consuming to get rid of.

For this reason our normal approach with an infected PC is to reformat your hard drive and reload your PC's operating system.

This will of course mean that any data you had on your machine will be lost. If you do have any critical information on your machine, we can attempt to recover it. But, please be advised this is likely to be time consuming and costly and may not be successful.

If you wish us to attempt recovery of critical files from your infected PC please be advised we cannot be held responsible for any loss of data before, during or after the recovery process.

If you would like any advice or are unsure about any aspect of recovering your data, please ask one of our engineers for help.

If you ask us to do a system reload we will need your operating system software (fully licensed) and all supporting devices and drivers before we undertake the work.

If any drivers are missing we will attempt to download suitable files from the Internet but cannot guarantee we will find all the required drivers or that they will be suitable.

You will need to re-install any other software you may require on your PC. We cannot be held responsible for any conflicts this may cause with the newly installed operating system.

System Inspection

...from £10.00 + VAT

A system inspection is a short diagnostic of a computer component or system to discover where and why a reported problem is occurring and to provide a possible solution. If we discover the problem can be easily resolved within a reasonable amount of time, the labour cost for the repair will be included as part of the above stated fee. However, if the problem requires a more in depth analysis additional labour costs will be incurred.

Installation of Modem, Video, Sound, Network cards

...from £15.00 + VAT

This is intended to include the installation, configuration and testing of the above type of device whether or not it was purchased from MD Components Ltd. If the component(s) cannot be installed due to software incompatibly, corruption or conflicts, a pro-rata fee will be charged as is reasonable for the work already undertaken. Additional charges will be incurred should you wish us to resolve such issues, before we install the device.

Hard Disk Installation

...from £10.00 + VAT

This is intended to include the installation, test, partitioning and formatting of a hard disk whether or not it was purchased from MD Components Ltd. It does not include the installation of any BIOS upgrades, operating systems or the transfer of any data.

CPU Installation

...from £10.00 + VAT

This is intended to include the fitting and testing of a CPU whether or not it was purchased from MD Components Ltd. It does not include any BIOS upgrades or operating system patches that may be required for such devices to make them fully compatible with the any other components within your computer system.

Hard Disk Data Transfer

...from £15.00 + VAT

This is intended to include the imaging of one hard disk drive to another whether or not it was purchased from MD Components Ltd. It does not include any BIOS upgrades or software patches that may be needed to make such devices work correctly. It does not cover any necessary repair of software before or after the imaging of such drives. MD Components Ltd is not liable for any loss of data that is incurred during the imaging process, although we will endeavour to retain data integrity wherever possible.

CD-ROM/RW, DVD-ROM/RW installation

...from £15.00 + VAT

This is intended to include the fitting and testing of an optical device and any included software, whether or not it was purchased from MD Components Ltd. It does not include the installation of any BIOS upgrades or operating system patches that might be needed to make your device work correctly.

System Reload

...from £39.00 + VAT

This is intended to include a full system format and reload of any Microsoft Windows based operating system and installation of relevant device drivers for internal and external peripherals, assuming a fully licensed copy of the operating system and all supporting devices and drivers are supplied before the work is undertaken.

If all drivers cannot be supplied we will attempt to source necessary software from the Internet but we cannot guarantee that all the device drivers will be found.

Where reasonably possible, at the customers' request we will backup any data from the customers' hard disk prior to format and copy it back onto the newly reloaded system.

We cannot be held responsible for any loss of any data before, after or during the backup process. We cannot warranty the software system if a second or third party installs further hardware or software after the reload.
